How to Become an AI Sustainability Officer

The role where AI and sustainability become one governance problem.

A three-hour live masterclass that equips sustainability, finance and technology professionals to step into the emerging AI Sustainability Officer role: the person who uses AI to run sustainability reporting and compliance, and who governs the energy, emissions and risk that AI itself creates.

This cohort runs live online on Friday 4 December 2026, 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM SGT. Secure your place below.

Why this role, why now

AI and sustainability have become one governance problem, and most leadership teams still manage them in separate rooms. Enterprise AI adoption is pushing electricity demand from data centres sharply upward, which lands directly in Scope 2 and in supplier Scope 3. At the same time, ISSB-aligned disclosure and ISSA 5000 assurance are moving sustainability numbers from narrative into audit.

Human-only sustainability teams working from annual spreadsheets cannot keep pace with that volume or that scrutiny. AI tools can now collect, classify and reconcile emissions data continuously, but only if someone accountable designs the controls, checks the outputs and stands behind them to an assurer and a board.

That person is the AI Sustainability Officer. The role sits where the Chief Sustainability Officer, the CFO and the AI governance lead meet, and few organisations have filled it yet. This masterclass shows you how to build the skills, mandate and operating model to take it on.

Who should attend

The session is for professionals who want to own the intersection of AI and sustainability, or who must work closely with whoever does.

Sustainability and ESG leads

A credible route to bring AI into reporting and controls without losing assurance quality.

CFOs and finance controllers

How continuous carbon data feeds disclosure, cost of capital and investor reporting.

CTOs, CIOs and AI leads

A clear grasp of AI's own energy and emissions footprint, and the governance boards now expect.

Risk, audit and compliance professionals

The controls, evidence and oversight model that make AI-assisted ESG data defensible.

Consultants and career changers

A defined, emerging role to position for, with a practical first 90-day plan.

What you will be able to do

1

Explain why AI adoption has created a new sustainability blind spot in the C-suite, across compute energy, Scope 2 and 3 exposure, and disclosure risk.

2

Define the AI Sustainability Officer's mandate, reporting lines and decision rights, and how the role differs from the CSO and the AI governance lead.

3

Describe how AI tools connect to ERP, energy and supplier data to support continuous carbon accounting.

4

Map AI-assisted ESG data to ISSB requirements and set the controls an ISSA 5000 assurer will test.

5

Build the business case that links credible, timely sustainability data to cost of capital, supplier qualification and investor confidence.

6

Set human oversight, ethical guardrails and data security for any AI system used in sustainability work.

7

Draft a first 90-day plan to establish the role in your own organisation.
